Woo!  It is #SideHustlingSaturday again!  This is proving to be one of my favourite posts each week, mostly because I start my weekend so inspired by the potential money making opportunities out there.  If this is the first one, you’ve seen make sure that you take a look at the other interviews.

Today we hear from Pete who is going to tell us how his circumstances encouraged him to find another way to make money other than the 9-5.  AND he is doing very well with it!  Have a read!

Tell us a little about yourself

I’m Pete, I live in the south-east and I work full-time as a Civil Servant. I’m married with 3 children, all under the age of 10.

I use various ways to make extra money in my free time, but my favourite way is through completing surveys. I now belong to over 25 sites but use some far more than others.

What was your motivation for starting?

For family reasons, I decided to cut down on the number of night shifts I worked which meant less money. So completing surveys meant a way of earning some of that money back. Plus, because I work for the government, I haven’t seen a decent pay rise in over 8 years!

How much time do you put into it?

It really varies. Weekdays can be 1-2 hours each day. It can be longer depending on what’s available. I have completed individual surveys that take over 90 minutes and these tend to pay quite well. Weekends are pretty poor for surveys and it’s very rare that I do over 30 minutes on either day. I belong to several sites where surveys take just a couple of minutes to complete. That means I can earn during a break at work or waiting outside the school gates.

And what sort of money are you making?

The highlight is the different products I have tested. It’s great to be sent free stuff and get paid! I have already earned enough in Amazon vouchers this year to cover all the kid’s Christmas presents, which relieves a lot of stress.

How about the biggest challenge?

Some of the surveys can be boring and very repetitive and it takes quite some effort to get through them. I find that taking a break for a couple of days can really help.

What would you say to someone considering a similar route?

Try plenty of different survey sites. They pay differing amounts and some sites have far more interesting surveys compared to others. It’s a matter of persevering until you find the right sites for you. And don’t expect to start testing products straight away, it takes a little time.

What does the future hold for this venture?

I’m going to carry on and find more sites to join. The extra money is a real help and it’s pain-free.

And where can we find you?

Are you feeling inspired yet?

Thank you Pete!  Another inspirational interview!  I’ve always thought that surveys were a small change kind of game but this shows that with time and commitment you can earn some serious money from them.  Excellent work!

Wow! This is enlightening. Never heard of earning money through answering surveys before. This I’ve got to see. Thanks for writing this one!

Yep! There’s decent money in it too.

I love this topic. In the past I’ve tried surveys but never really got a good return. This post gives me hope that the surveys may pay better now and I should check them out.

I think it’s a case of if you persevere long enough then the rewards are great.

That’s an awesome way to make some extra cash! I would love to learn more!

I love this idea but most surveys cater only to Americans. It excludes those of us who are also keen to make a little extra money.

Whereabouts are you? Both Pete and I are UK and there are plenty of opportunities here. I think you just have to find them in your country.

Tracy @ Cleland Clan

I really had no idea you could earn money or vouchers through surveys. I’m going to check out Pete’s site to see if he has links to some of these survey sites.

You should!

Very motivating. I have dabbled in surveys but do get bored. After reading how well you do I may give it a more concentrated effort
